
Hunt is a principal of The Sterling Group, an independent financial planning and investment advisory firm in Pasadena, California. Hunt's focus is on assessing client needs through comprehensive financial planning and implementing strategies to pursue client goals. These services are delivered predominantly through an independent, fee-based relationship. This approach seeks to provide investors with an objective financial planning and investment management relationship, assuring them that The Sterling Group is working for their best interests. A focus is placed on the tax and estate-planning issues faced by families and individuals who are in or near retirement. Hunt has extensive experience in the charitable giving arena and in 1997 formed a relationship with Renaissance Inc., the largest independent charitable trust administrator in the country, and separate entity. This relationship provides The Sterling Group with technical support from nationally recognized specialists in the area of charitable gift planning.
Hunt has been a financial advisor since 1993. He received an economics degree from the University of Virginia, with an emphasis on finance and accounting. He later received his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from American College, in Pennsylvania. He maintains the following FINRA registrations with LPL Financial: Series 7 (general securities), Series 24 (managing principal), and Series 63 (state securities). Hunt also maintains various state insurance licenses. Hunt is a registered principal with, and securities are offered through LPL Financial.
Hunt has been a resident of the Pasadena area for more than 35 years and is an active participant in the community. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for Mayfield Junior School, where he chairs the Finance & Audit Committee. As a longtime advocate for the preservation of Pasadena's historic resources, Hunt also serves on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Castle Green. In addition, he volunteers his time and professional expertise as a member of the finance committee at Trinity Presbyterian Church, as well as Foothill Family Service, where he was a former member of the Board of Directors.
Hunt is married, and he and his wife Lyn Beecher have two daughters, Katherine and Grace. His interests include golf, hiking, and scuba diving.
